This event is very personal for the Honorary Chairperson, Karen Rogers, and event founder, Jan Kucera, who are both breast cancer survivors. Because of this, GPHH Chairperson Nilsa McKinney has invited famed fashion illustrator Carlos Marrero to join the cause.

Everyone’s family has been touched by this disease, even my own, and that is why I was so excited to be part of this two-day event. I could not say YES fast enough,” said Carlos.

Carlos Marrero has been a seasoned, fashion illustrator for over 25 years, whose work has been featured in Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Deco Drive, and Vogue Magazines. His designs have been featured in Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, and Henri Bendel and have been worn by many local celebrities. He has recently launched The Marrero Collection, a compilation of couture statement pieces such as handbags and scarves. Carlos has agreed to design a one-of-a-kind, special edition scarf to be given to all the women in our Survivor’s Circle. He will be attending the VIP Preview Night showcasing The Marrero Collection and will personally autograph all the limited edition scarves for the Survivor’s Circle with a specially designed pen at the Girls, Pearls, Hat & Heels daytime event.

The Library invites you to pay tribute to loved ones, friends, and family who have experienced breast cancer, by joining the Girls, Pearls, Hats, & Heels Survivor’s Circle. Honorees will be greeted at a special VIP check-in, receive a signed, limited edition Marrero Collection couture scarf, and be recognized at the event and in the event program.
