Gratitude Jar 2017 – Just Do it!

Gratitude-Jar

In 2015 I posted “One of the wisest things I did in 2015 was my gratitude jar. I am so happy that I stuck with this exercise because the results were nothing but incredible.” I still LOVE this practice and wanted to share with my friends my insights about this attitude of gratitude. I was reading this great article Lessons From My Gratitude Jar It doesn’t matter what you write. The simple act of finding something to appreciate shifts you a tiny bit each time. Grateful for rain — we had a very long, hot, dry summer in Southern California. …

2016-gratitude-jar

One of the wisest things I did in 2015 was my gratitude jar. I am so happy that I stuck with this exercise because the results were nothing but incredible. These days our attention is pulled in every direction, we spend our lives figuring out our next move, our next goal, how much we don’t have. Always thinking that we are lacking something, that we never have enough, or that the grass is greener for someone else… on the other side. The gratitude jar is a simple exercise to help remember the good things that have happened to us throughout the …

“How heavy is this glass of water?”

glass-of water-blog

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”     Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz. She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If …

When you doubt your power

Believe-in-Yourself

“When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt.” ~Honore de Balzac The last couple of weeks have been challenging to say the least. A couple of projects that I worked very hard at did not get the green light. These are the times when you question yourself, when you doubt your power. The Art of Detachment – let it all be.

Detachment-blog-2

Lately, I have been working on a few illustration projects for licensing. I love what I do, but after 40+ years it doesn’t get easier when a project doesn’t go through. Now when two projects don’t go through, you can get down in the dumps! Sometimes I focus too much on “The Goal”, and the object of my focus becomes my waking thoughts, daily deliberations and midnight meditations. This intense concentration – and holding on too tightly- can “PUSH AWAY” my  desired outcome. My very wise agent recommended to detach from the projects I was working on, and suggested that …
